Below a Message and Videoos from Alan Dodd, Chairperson, Cork branch RMA.
On behalf of the Cork Branch of the TUI RMA I would like to extend a Ceád Mile Fáilte to everyone making the journey to West Cork for the Spring Break in March and delighted so many have made the commitment – and I hope your stay will be pleasant and memorable.
Those of us who are lucky enough to be living in the ‘catchment area’ of Celtic Ross Hotel are very appreciative of the natural amenities and facilities nature has provided for us – and indeed in West Cork generally and we hope you will get the opportunity to share in some of the facilities during your stay. If you haven’t already done so I would encourage you to visit the Celtic Ross Hotel website www.celticrosshotel.com and get an idea of the stunning location of the Hotel and the beautiful surroundings.
So by way of introduction to the locality I have put together some video clips of a few popular walks in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel that you might find helpful – if only to ‘guide you in the right direction’ if you have a bit of time on your hands and you would like to explore your surroundings. They are not meant as a substitute for the organised tours but just something to explore in your own time. Each of the walks has a start and finish at the Hotel and ‘captured’ on a Dash-Cam – again purely to give you a sense of direction if and when you venture to step outside the Hotel. There is no specific order to view the clips but perhaps you should start with the ‘Welcome’ clip – which also acts as a guide to the Hotel location generally. Another clip takes you up to the town of Rosscarbery while the final clip brings you on a visit to the birthplace of Michael Collins – just a few Kilometres away.
I want to stress that the clips are not ‘Oscar’ material by any stretch of the imagination, so do make allowances for me as I waffle away in the background.
The Hotel is on the main N71 route – So out of Cork – head for Bandon then Clonakilty and follow the sign for Skibbereen – Rosscarbery is only 12-15 minute drive from Clonakilty.
The official GPS reading for the Hotel is: Latitude (51.629003) Longitude (-9.037438) – it should be easy to find anyway.
Enjoy your visit to West Cork.
