  • An RIC barracks and courthouse.
  • A mill dating back to 1217
  • Workhouse and famine graveyard.
  • Kildrought House dating back to 1719

  2. Celbridge Workhouse
  3. Guinness Statue beside the old courthouse
  4. Kildrought House gardens across from the old RIC barracks.

  6. Walk up Castletown House drive to end up at the cafe tearooms, and finish with stories of Castletown house.

The Castletown House Avenue is about a 1km walk, doable in 15 minutes. If you feel it might be a little too much you can skip it and relax with refreshments at one of the many coffee shops and eateries in the village.

Please note that guided tours or self-guided tours of Castletown House, run by the OPW, are provided hourly from 10am until 4:30pm. Tickets can be purchased on-site at reception in the West (cafe) wing.

To cover costs a charge of €5 per person will be collected before our village tour commences.

How to get there.

By bus:    Take the C4 to Celbridge from the city centre from Aston Quay. Stop 3908 Maynooth Road, is the closest stop to Tescos. It is better not to use the 120 which goes from Wellington Quay as it stops at the other end of the village, leaving you with a long walk to Tesco’s. Also, it can be unreliable.

By Car:    Traveling on the M4 take Exit 6 and follow signs for Celbridge. As you near the village you will pass by an Aldi on your right and a Lidl on your left. At the traffic lights after Lidl take a right to get into the Tesco carpark.
