Dear Colleagues,
Russborough House was designed by Richard Castle and built between 1741 and 1752. It is sited on 200 acres of sprawling parkland and takes full advantage of spectacular views of the Blessington lakes and the Wicklow Mountains beyond.
Russborough’s fascinating history spans almost three centuries of social and political intrigue, with rich stories of the Milltowns, Dalys and Beits that culminate with unprecedented acts of philanthropy for the benefit of the people of Ireland.
Apart from the intriguing historical story and a fascinating house tour at Russborough, there are other outdoor attractions that are too numerous to mention. Opening the map link at the end of this invitation will pinpoint all of the attractions.
You are welcome to invite a companion or two
Booking:
Tour Group – Max 25, places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If you expect to attend, please book by email or text to Eamonn (086 8703323) asap. Cancellations are sometimes unavoidable, if so please give notice.
Additional Information:
In 1952, the Dalys sold the house and estate to Sir Alfred and Lady Clementine Beit; they were the last private owners of the holding.
Among the collections they built up over time, are an outstanding array of French and English furniture from the 1700s, the finest private collections of 18th century silver and porcelain in Ireland, and many important paintings from the 17th to 20th centuries by leading Dutch, British and Spanish artists including Jan Vermeer, Henry Raeburn, and Francisco de Goya.
Their commitment to protect the house and collection for future generations led them to establish the Alfred Beit Foundation in 1976. The house opened to the public as a museum in 1978. Listen to the sound clip link at the end of this invitation ‘The Beits on the collection at Russborough’ to hear their very own recorded short story.
A house tour not to be missed, I think you will agree.
